3:30 in the morning. Greasy hair. No clue about this assignment. Aching body. Time to go home.
Skype, again
Career and life advice/chat from my brother in Beijing for two hours. It’s so nice.

Skyping my best friend in Santa Cruz for an hour is pretty good.
It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday and I’m sitting inside in the cold typing about Mrs Wagner killing her husband with an axe. It seems to wrong to be typing these words when I’m in such a sunny, happy mood.
On we march…..
@ the library for the fourth night in a row while my housemates go out to see live music.
Two assignments down.
Two assignments and two exams left.
Two weeks.
This will be so worth it soon.
Come on brain, you can do it.
Me: “Shanghai”
Anon girl: “Oh yeah? Where’s that?”
Me: “China”
Anon girl: “Oh beautiful, I would love to go there one day. I’ve always wanted to see Tokyo”
Right.
Hilarious snapshots of outback Australia.
It’s 2 in the morning and I’m at the library. Nearly finished my assignment but now I’m lost in the vortex of watching dance clips on Youtube. Man I miss structured dance classes and learning routines.
Recently a girl I know from college has “adopted” a homeless 17 year old she saw asking for money in the city. He had been kicked out of his place in Perth by his step-father and spent all his money on a flight to Brisbane where he was born. Her mother and her took him out to dinner and after learning his story they asked him to stay and helped clothe him and find work.
He now lives with my friend, rent free, conditional on the fact that he puts away 10% of his weekly wages.
I met him at work in the kitchen on Saturday, and only after a few hours did I put the pieces together and work out he was the same boy I had heard about.
I was amazed by how polite, shy and hardworking he was.
He told me how he had found out (after a three hour phone call) that his younger brother who was taken by DOCS years ago, is now living in Ipswich, a few hours drive from here. He is now planning a reunion.
The chance that my friend took on him and the change that has made to his life are amazing. I hope that everything works out. This boy has so much potential to achieve loads in life.
I am so glad I glimpsed a small part of this journey between two people.
